How do I arrange a wedding at St. Bridget?
Congratulations on your engagement! We are so excited for you and your soon-to-be spouse! We love that you want to get married in the Church and that you are considering St. Bridget as a possible location for your wedding. The first step is simply to call our parish secretary, Lynn, between 8:30am-4:00pm at 815-633-6311. She will begin the conversation with you about setting the date of your wedding. To see what is involved for a wedding here at St. Bridget, we invite you to look through our wedding packet found at the bottom of this section.
If I am already legally married, can I have my marriage blessed by the Church?
Were you married outside of the Catholic Church? Would you like to have your marriage blessed by the Church? This is called the marriage convalidation process, and the Church is here to help. Couples may find themselves in this situation for a variety of reasons. It may be that a Catholic entered into marriage outside the Church and did not realize that the Church asks us to marry in the Church. Alternatively, it might be because one, or both parties, was not free to marry in the Catholic Church due to a previous marriage or because he or she was awaiting an annulment. No matter the situation, now is a great time to explore the convalidation process. Consider this your invitation! Any of the priests at St. Bridget would be glad to assist you. Please call the Parish Office at 815-633-6311 to set up an appointment.
I'm unable to leave my home to get to Mass. Can someone bring the Eucharist to me at Home or while I am in the hospital?
We know that it is not possible for some of our parishioners to attend Mass in person due to age or physical maladies. Therefore we have people who go to them with Jesus in Holy Communion!
Please call us at 815-633-6311 if you or someone you know is unable to come to Mass and would like to receive the gift of Jesus in the Eucharist!
How do I arrange to receive the Anointing of the Sick when I am seriously ill (or a loved one is)?
We are confident that Jesus came to heal the sick (Luke 5:31).
If you or someone you know is in need of the anointing of the sick for any severe illness or surgery, we encourage you to call a priest! You can reach us at 815-633-6311.
Anointing of the sick is not only for those who are dying. Any Catholic suffering from physical, emotional, or mental difficulties can receive this sacrament. Thank you for caring enough to call!

The ending of relationships is never easy. We know that. We also know that it happens and we are here to walk with you in whatever way you need. For some, especially those who are desiring to remarry, it may mean the process of Annulment. This process, although sometimes difficult and challenging, is never done alone. Those who have walked it have found more healing and freedom than they imagined that they needed. The priests of this parish understand the pain of the past and act as caring guides to those who are pursuing this means of healing. The first step is simply calling one of the priests here at St. Bridget 815-633-6311.
Common hesitations:
"The cost of it is expensive"
We know that money is a HUGE consideration. We also know that healing from the past is more important than any amount of money. It is why the parish offers assistance to those for whom money is truly an obstacle. And frankly, the cost is not nearly as expensive as often reported.
"I don't want my children thinking they aren't important or parentless."
We very much understand why people would think or feel this. And in seeking an annulment, the Church is in no way saying they are unimportant or parentless. Just as we would never say a child born out of wedlock is unimportant or parentless. No, they are of the greatest importance! The annulment is a process which grants healing to those of the marriage and, if granted, permission and freedom to marry again within the Church.
"The process is too long"
It is true, the annulment process in the Diocese of Rockford can take anywhere up to 18 months and perhaps longer if the paperwork is not submitted in a timely fashion. Your healing is of the utmost importance and that is why we work with you in submitting the paperwork as quickly as possible.
"An annulment is just a Catholic divorce, it's silly."
On the surface it may look similar, but at its core the two are fundamentally different. A divorce simply grants a civil split which states that the two are no longer compatible. An annulment looks at the very beginning of the relationship and from that place makes the case that the marriage was shaky and unsustainable from the start.
