Family of Faith

What does Family of Faith look like?

  • A parish-based program that enriches the faith of the entire family.
  • Once a month sessions meet at St. Bridget - at least one parent, guardian, or grandparent must attend with their child(ren) in Grades Pre-K through 7th. Parents, guardians, or grandparents will receive faith formation in Mitchell Hall while the children go to their own faith formation class in the school.  A nursery is available for children age 3 and younger.
  • At home during the month - parents, guardians, or grandparents will do lessons which are scripted in A Family of Faith Parent's Guide with their child(ren).  A Family of Faith Child Activity Book corresponds to the parent's guide instructions.  These lessons vary by age level and length of time to complete.

Why Family Faith Formation?

  • Studies show that parents are the most important element in a child’s faith life. This is why the Church asks parents, at their child’s Baptism, to accept the responsibility of forming their child in the practice of the faith. This program is designed to give you the tools and confidence to live that promise.

  • A Family of Faith Formation program will allow parents, guardians, or grandparents to experience community in the parish as well as find support, learn, and grow in their own faith along with their child(ren).

  • This program gives you the flexibility you need to deepen your family’s faith formation together at a time most convenient for you.

Adult Facilitators - volunteers who help lead table discussions at our Family of Faith sessions once a month.

Volunteers - are always appreciated and welcome in the Family of Faith program. Training is provided as needed depending on the volunteer task.

Safe Environment Training - required for all catechists, facilitators, & volunteers age 16 and older.  Before you can volunteer, you must complete the Diocese of Rockford Safe Environment requirements.  Safe Environment training includes the following:  Background Check, Protecting God's Children online class, & reading Safe Environment Policies for the Diocese of Rockford.  Click here to go to our Safe Environment page.
