A Family of Faith

A New Way to think about Religious Education

What does A Family of Faith look like?

  •  A parish-based program that enriches the faith of the entire family

Once a month grades pre-k through 7th will come to the parish with their parents (at least one): Parents will receive faith formation in our parish center while the kids go to their own faith formation class in the school

2x a month, parents will do at home lessons with their family (30-45 minute lessons in place of weekly Religious Education)

Seasonal activities will be an opportunity to bring all families together! From cook-outs, to family Adoration, to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, to Advent activity nights, and more!

Why Family Faith Formation?

  • Studies show that parents are the MOST IMPORTANT element in a child’s faith-life. This why the Church asks parents, at their child’s Baptism, to accept the responsibility of forming their child in the practice of the faith. This program is designed to give you the tools and confidence to live that promise!

  • A Family of Faith Formation program will allow the parents to experience community in the parish, find support among other Catholic parents, and learn, experience, and grow in their own faith along with their children!

  • Is it hard to get here every week? This program gives YOU the flexibility you need to deepen your family’s faith formation together at a time most convenient for YOU.

  • The adult Faith Enrichment portion of our program is open to all adults in our parish which will help develop greater community.

Catechists are volunteers who give of their time, talent and prayer to walk with our Religious Ed students on their journey of faith. The volunteer staff comes from many different professions and backgrounds with the same focus - to share their faith with the children of our Parish.

The Diocese requires all volunteers to take enrichment classes to deepen our knowledge of the Church and her teachings.  All teachers are working toward or already have a catechist certificate. After certification, the catechists are required to continue class work to maintain his/her certification and enhance their knowledge.  Many opportunities are offered throughout the year to become certified or renew your certification.

Volunteers are always appreciated and welcome in the R.E. programs. Training is provided as needed depending on the task. Participating in the class "Protecting God's Children" is a prerequisite to volunteering in any of the programs involving children.
